MTN has completed the migration of its Enterprise Value Analytics (EVA) platform in South Africa to Microsoft Azure, marking a major milestone in its digital transformation journey. The migration aims to enhance the company’s ability to use data-driven intelligence to improve customer experience, boost operational efficiency, and ensure the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
The upgraded cloud-based EVA 3.0 platform processes around 22 billion records every day and manages more than 800 analytics workflows across 1,700 data feeds. It is built to deliver faster and more secure data processing and analysis.
Developed on Azure Databricks and protected by Microsoft Defender, EVA 3.0 has shown strong performance improvements compared to its previous version. The platform now enables faster decision-making and real-time insights, supporting more agile and informed business operations.
MTN Group Chief Information Officer Nikos Angelopoulos said that the enhanced platform offers earlier visibility into customer and network performance trends, allowing teams to act proactively, create more personalised offers, and deliver a consistent, high-quality service experience.
“Our customers expect reliability, relevance, and responsiveness in every interaction,” said Angelopoulos. “EVA 3.0 strengthens our ability to transform vast amounts of data into meaningful insights with greater speed, intelligence, and security.”
He also highlighted that EVA 3.0 represents the largest telecommunications cloud deployment in the Middle East and Africa, setting a new standard for data modernisation across the region.
MTN plans to expand the EVA 3.0 framework beyond South Africa and implement similar data transformation initiatives across other markets where it operates, further strengthening its regional digital strategy.
