Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella will visit India in December, marking his second trip to the country this year. According to sources familiar with the matter, Nadella is expected to meet top government officials and attend major artificial intelligence conferences during his visit.
Nadella will speak at two AI-focused events in Bengaluru and Mumbai, while also holding meetings in New Delhi. Microsoft has not issued an official statement regarding his visit.
The Indian-born CEO remains one of the most admired global technology leaders in India, a nation where engineering and computer science are seen as key drivers of growth and opportunity. His visit comes at a time when New Delhi and Washington continue discussions to resolve trade differences, and the Indian government is promoting home-grown software solutions such as Zoho, which provides cost-effective alternatives to global cloud-based platforms like Microsoft’s.
During his earlier visit to India in January, Nadella announced a 3 billion dollar investment in AI and cloud infrastructure, and also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Microsoft has since been expanding its AI footprint in India, where tools such as Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini, and Elon Musk’s Grok have seen rapid adoption among businesses and users alike.
Tech companies are strengthening their focus on AI in India. Earlier this month, Google announced a 15 billion dollar investment to establish an AI data centre in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
Nadella is also expected to meet with key enterprise clients and Microsoft employees during his trip. The company currently employs over 20,000 people across 10 Indian cities, underscoring its strong presence in the country’s technology ecosystem.
