Azerbaijan signs UN Convention against Cybercrime at solemn ceremony in Vietnam

Azerbaijan has officially signed the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, joining many member states in a global effort to strengthen cooperation in the fight against cyber threats.

The signing took place during a formal ceremony in Hanoi, Vietnam. The event was attended by United Nations Secretary General António Guterres, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, heads of delegations from different countries, international organisation representatives, and cybersecurity experts.

Colonel General Ali Nagiyev, Chief of the State Security Service, signed the Convention on behalf of Azerbaijan. This step followed the order issued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Azerbaijan’s early participation reflects its commitment, under the leadership of the Commander in Chief, to work with the international community to combat cybercrime and to help protect global cyberspace.

The Convention focuses on key goals. These include improving legal cooperation between states to address cybercrime, preventing the misuse of information and communication technologies, and building international systems for collecting and presenting electronic evidence.

A total of 72 countries signed the Convention during the ceremony held from 25 to 26 October.
