HMD introduces Touch 4G, an affordable touch screen phone with cloud apps

HMD, the company behind the Nokia brand, has announced the launch of its latest budget phone called HMD Touch 4G. The company describes it as a hybrid phone. It is not a full smartphone but offers more features than regular feature phones. It appears to take inspiration from the older Nokia Asha series, which also offered smart functions with the help of cloud based browser apps.

The new HMD Touch 4G is aimed at users who want internet access on a low cost device. It supports 4G connectivity and comes with a 3.2 inch TFT LCD display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution. It runs on a custom lightweight real time operating system known as RTOS Touch.

The phone includes an instant messaging app named Express Chat. It supports group chats and video calling, similar to WhatsApp. The device also comes with cloud apps that provide weather reports, cricket updates and trending videos. On the front, there is a 0.3MP selfie camera, while the back features a circular camera island with a 2MP rear camera and an LED flash.

HMD Touch 4G is powered by the Unisoc T127 chip. It has 64MB of RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. Users can increase the storage to 32GB through a microSD card slot. It is equipped with a 1,950mAh battery and can be charged through a USB C port.

The phone weighs 100 grams and offers IP52 rated protection. Connectivity options include a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi Fi support. The phone will be available in Cyan and Dark Blue colours.

The price of the HMD Touch 4G in India is Rs 3,999. It is listed on the company’s official website. However, it is currently out of stock and is expected to be available soon.
