Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce platform, in partnership with global fintech company Pine Labs, has launched the Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card, a digital prepaid card designed to simplify payments for public transport across the country.
The card allows commuters to pay for rides on metros, buses, and other transit systems that accept the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC). It aims to reduce queues at kiosks, eliminate recharge delays, and make commuting more efficient for daily passengers.
According to the Economic Survey 2025, daily metro ridership in India reached 10.2 million in January 2025, underlining the growing need for faster and more convenient payment options.
The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is a ₹50, reloadable, non-KYC, NCMC-enabled smart card. Users can load up to ₹2,000 offline and manage balances via the Bharat Yatra Card app, UPI apps, Bharat Connect, or metro payment counters. Multiple cards can also be linked within the app for easy management and transaction tracking.
Physical cards are available for purchase through the Flipkart app, including Flipkart Minutes, the company’s quick-commerce platform. Activation and fund loading can be done by scanning the UPI QR code on the card or through the app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
Commenting on the launch, B Amrish Rau, CEO of Pine Labs, said, “The Flipkart Bharat Yatra Card is a step towards a unified, inclusive, and frictionless mobility payment experience for Indians.”
Gaurav Arora, Vice President, Flipkart Payments, added, “Our collaboration with Pine Labs combines Flipkart’s reach with their technology expertise to deliver a consumer-first transit payment solution.”
