HMD, the company behind the Nokia brand, has announced the launch of its latest device, the HMD Touch 4G. The company describes it as a “hybrid phone”, combining the simplicity of a feature phone with several functions of a smartphone. The new budget-friendly device takes inspiration from the earlier Nokia Asha series, which also offered smart capabilities through cloud-based apps.
As its name indicates, the HMD Touch 4G supports 4G connectivity and is aimed at users looking for an internet-enabled phone at a low price. The phone features a 3.2-inch TFT LCD display with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution and operates on a custom lightweight real-time operating system called RTOS Touch.
The device comes preloaded with Express Chat, an instant messaging app similar to WhatsApp that supports group chats and video calls. It also includes cloud-based apps that allow users to check cricket scores, weather forecasts, and trending videos. On the front, the phone has a 0.3MP selfie camera, while the back features a circular camera module with a 2MP main sensor and an LED flash.
Powered by the Unisoc T127 chipset, the HMD Touch 4G includes 64MB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 32GB via a microSD card. It runs on a 1,950mAh battery that can be charged using the included USB-C port.
The device is rated IP52 for basic dust and water resistance and weighs just 100 grams. For connectivity, it offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi support. The HMD Touch 4G is available in Cyan and Dark Blue colour options at a price of Rs 3,999. It can be purchased from the company’s official website. However, the phone is currently out of stock and is expected to be available again soon.
