Motorola Begins Android 16 Rollout in India, Starting with Edge 60 and Edge 50 Series

Motorola has officially begun rolling out the Android 16 update in India, starting with select models from the Motorola Edge 60 and Edge 50 series. The company confirmed that the update will gradually expand to other eligible smartphones in the coming weeks.

According to Motorola, the new Android 16 update introduces a range of design, performance, security, and connectivity enhancements to improve the overall user experience. One of the major additions is the Notification Auto Grouping feature, which helps users manage and organise app alerts more efficiently, reducing clutter on the notification panel.

The update also enhances compatibility with Bluetooth LE Audio devices, providing better sound performance even in noisy surroundings. Another key feature, Instant Hotspot, allows seamless connectivity between devices using the same Google account, such as phones, tablets, and Chromebooks, without needing to enter passwords.

Motorola has also introduced a new ‘Modes’ feature in Android 16 that lets users customise device behaviour depending on their activity—such as sleeping, driving, or working. Each mode can control notifications, display preferences, and sound settings, offering a more personalised experience.

For security, the update includes Android 16’s Advanced Protection feature along with an upgraded Moto Secure 5.5 app. The new version adds Secure Power-Off, an enhanced privacy dashboard, and better control options to keep users’ data safe.

Users will also notice an updated interface with smarter system settings, detailed battery health insights, improved diagnostics tools, and support for more system languages and regional preferences. Additionally, the update provides improved Caller ID, voicemail features, and spam protection through Play Store updates.

The rollout of Android 16 has begun with the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, Edge 60 Fusion, and Edge 50 Pro, following a phased distribution plan before expanding to other eligible Motorola smartphones.
