Amid the government’s growing push for indigenous technology platforms, Zoho has launched Vani, a new AI-powered workplace collaboration tool designed to enhance visual learning and teamwork. The platform enables users to co-create mind maps, diagrams, and workflows on an infinite whiteboard with built-in video calls, comments, project timelines, pre-loaded templates, and database tables. It also integrates generative AI for content creation and summarisation across the platform.
Zoho said that Vani aims to compete with global players such as Google, Microsoft, and Zoom by offering a visual-first, structured collaboration model built around ‘Spaces’ and ‘Zones’. “At its core, Vani runs on three pillars: visualize, collaborate, and execute. It helps your team process complex discussions into clear visuals. Vani reduces cognitive overload, keeps everyone aligned, and helps decisions happen faster with clarity that sticks,” the company said in a blog post.
The launch comes soon after the Ministry of Education encouraged officials to adopt Zoho Office Suite for document and data management to support the government’s ‘Swadeshi’ technology initiative. The Ministry described this shift as a “bold step in the Swadeshi movement” in an official memorandum issued on October 3.
Zoho co-founder and chief scientist Sridhar Vembu described Vani as “the all-in-one, visual-first intelligent platform” that “sparks creativity”. He added that the platform represents years of research and development and already has active users. Vani is currently available on desktop and browsers, with a mobile version set to launch soon.
Vani includes a range of collaboration and productivity tools such as an infinite whiteboard, mind maps, sticky notes, flowcharts, DB tables, video meetings, and task workflows. Users can organise their work through Spaces and Zones, leave comments and reactions, and even pin or annotate ideas. Generative AI allows instant creation of flowcharts, mind maps, and content summaries.
The platform integrates with other Zoho applications and third-party tools, allowing users to import and export content securely. Zoho’s Workplace package, which includes Vani, starts at Rs 399 per month with 1 TB of pooled storage, 100 GB for each additional user, and support for up to 1,000 participants in online meetings.
The launch of Vani also aligns with the government’s push for self-reliant digital solutions amid increasing trade tensions with the United States. Recently, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also encouraged citizens to adopt Indian software after showcasing Zoho tools in an official presentation.
