Oracle Expands Hiring Focus to Smaller Indian Cities

Global IT giant Oracle is increasing its focus on hiring talent from smaller Indian cities while aiming to establish a presence in every state capital, a senior company official said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ‘24th ICT East’ event organised by an industry body in Kolkata, Oracle India’s vice-president of technology solutions engineering, Sanjeev Chauhan, said, “We have decentralised our operations in India and are opening more offices in small cities. We are also hiring more from tier-II and tier-III cities and giving flexibility to our employees to work from home, while offering them the same benefits.”

Chauhan added that Oracle’s flexible work culture, in place for over two decades, helped the company operate smoothly during the Covid pandemic.

Oracle currently employs around 58,000 people across 50 offices in India, including approximately 600 employees at its Kolkata office. “We will like to have a presence in every state capital in India,” Chauhan said, highlighting the company’s expansion plans.

The move reflects Oracle’s strategy to tap into talent beyond metropolitan areas while providing modern work flexibility to attract and retain employees.
