Google has introduced Mixboard, an experimental generative AI platform, through Google Labs. The tool is designed to transform the way creators brainstorm, visualise, and refine ideas. Mixboard allows users to start projects using simple text prompts or explore pre-populated boards, upload their own images, or generate unique AI visuals. The platform can also create contextual text based on images added to the board.
Announced via a blog post on Tuesday, Mixboard aims to assist users in planning home décor, event themes, product innovations, or DIY projects by combining images and text on an open canvas. Its AI-powered capabilities let users edit boards using natural language, tweak details, merge images, and generate new variations with one-click options such as “regenerate” or “more like this.” The platform uses Google’s Nano Banana image editing model to power its creative functions.
Currently, Mixboard is in public beta and available for users in the United States, with potential expansion to other regions in the future. Its functionality is similar to AI assistants offered by platforms like Canva and Adobe Firefly Boards.
In addition to Mixboard, Google continues to explore other AI innovations. The company is testing a new Windows search app through Search Labs for personal accounts, allowing users to press Alt + Space to instantly search across computer files, Google Drive, and the Web. Google has also expanded its AI Plus subscription service to 40 more countries, demonstrating the company’s ongoing investment in AI-driven tools and services.
