Vivo and iQOO Likely to Introduce OriginOS in India, Replacing FuntouchOS

Chinese smartphone makers Vivo and iQOO are reportedly preparing to bring their OriginOS interface to India, replacing the existing FuntouchOS that currently powers their Indian smartphones. At present, OriginOS is used only in Chinese models, while Indian users receive devices with FuntouchOS. According to a report from a common source, this scenario may change soon.

Vivo is expected to unveil OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, in China next month. The rollout in India may follow shortly after, beginning with flagship models and gradually extending to mid-range and entry-level devices. iQOO is also expected to adopt OriginOS 6 in India around the same time.

Currently, Vivo and iQOO smartphones in China operate on OriginOS 5, which is built on Android 15. Reports suggest that the upcoming Vivo X300 series, likely to launch in China next month, will be the first set of devices to feature OriginOS 6 straight out of the box.

However, neither Vivo nor iQOO has officially confirmed any details about the release of OriginOS in India. Until an official announcement is made, the update remains speculative.

What to expect from OriginOS 6
Although Vivo has not yet officially presented the Android 16-based OriginOS for India, the update is expected to continue features seen in earlier versions. These may include AI-powered tools such as the Blue Heart Little V Assistant, which allows users to drag and drop files or images for instant actions, as well as enhanced natural voice interactions through Jovi Voice.

Productivity is also expected to improve with features like Atomic Island, which delivers live activity updates and contextual suggestions from copied text. An advanced AI call assistant could offer real-time conversation translation, generate call summaries, and even respond to calls on behalf of the user — features not available in the current FuntouchOS.

On the visual front, OriginOS 6 is expected to deliver smoother animations, refreshed icons, redesigned UI components, and expanded personalisation options, creating a more refined user experience across devices.

If introduced in India, this shift from FuntouchOS to OriginOS could mark a major upgrade for Vivo and iQOO smartphone users, especially as AI-driven experiences become increasingly central to mobile technology.
