Huawei Introduces Super Pod AI Technology to Rival Nvidia

Huawei has announced the launch of its new super pod technology, a system designed to connect thousands of AI chips and deliver massive computing power to take on Nvidia’s dominance in artificial intelligence. The technology can link up to nearly 15,000 or 16,000 graphics cards, including Huawei’s own Ascend AI chips, creating one of the most powerful cluster-based computing systems in the industry.

Since Huawei’s AI chips, such as the SE series, are not yet as advanced as Nvidia’s, the super pod approach focuses on scale, bringing together large numbers of chips to achieve high-performance output. This move reflects China’s broader effort to reduce reliance on Western chipmakers and accelerate domestic innovation in next-generation AI infrastructure.

Alongside the super pod, Huawei also revealed that a new series of AI chips will be launched next year, further strengthening its ecosystem. The company highlights that the super pod is built to meet the growing demand for advanced computing, enabling enterprises to run large-scale AI applications with greater speed and efficiency.

Huawei explained that the integrated design combines hardware and optimised software, allowing faster training and inference for machine learning models. The company also emphasised the cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency of its solution, positioning it as a strong alternative for businesses that require scalable AI systems.

Industry observers note that Huawei’s latest development is not only a technological milestone but also a strategic move to advance China’s self-reliance in the AI and semiconductor sectors. By strengthening its hardware portfolio, Huawei is aiming to establish itself as a formidable global competitor in the fast-growing AI market.
