Strategic Tech Action Tank Launched to Accelerate Innovation, Policy, and Inclusive Growth
In a major push toward realizing the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, NITI Aayog has launched the Frontier Tech Hub along with two flagship initiatives: the “AI for Viksit Bharat Roadmap” and the Frontier Tech Repository. Designed as a strategic action tank, the Hub aims to anticipate global mega technology shifts and align India’s readiness for inclusive growth, resilient supply chains, and national security.
Human-Centric Impact and Knowledge Commons
The AI for Viksit Bharat Roadmap lays out a comprehensive action plan for deploying artificial intelligence across infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, and education, with a focus on responsible, equitable inclusion and societal impact. NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Repository serves as a “living knowledge commons,” sharing proven, impactful stories where frontier technologies are already transforming lives, empowering marginalized communities, and driving economic progress.
“We cannot keep living on borrowed technology. Ownership is our next disruptor,” declared CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam. Experts at the launch highlighted the urgent need for investments in domestic AI infrastructure, expanded GPU availability to startups, and building semiconductor manufacturing plants to strengthen India’s tech backbone.
Partnerships and Global Leadership
The Frontier Tech Hub will foster collaboration among government ministries, industry leaders, and academia to chart sector-specific goals and policy recommendations. By 2035—midway to the Viksit Bharat deadline—the Hub aims to see India as a competitive leader in AI, quantum, and other critical domains. International benchmarking with nations such as the US and China sets ambitious targets for India’s R&D investment and talent pipeline.
State governments, meanwhile, are being encouraged to rethink their approach to digital infrastructure, embracing clean energy, high-performance computing, and streamlined processes as essential pillars for global competitiveness.
Roadmap for a Developed India
The “AI for Viksit Bharat Roadmap” and Frontier Tech Repository are more than policy documents—they are calls to action. By connecting cutting-edge technology policy, public-private partnerships, and inclusive development, NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub is positioning India to leapfrog into an era of sustainable, human-centric growth. This launch marks a pivotal milestone in India’s ambitious journey toward becoming a global leader in technology, innovation, and economic prosperity by 2047.
