Nextgen Semiconductors to Build India’s First Silicon and Silicon Carbide Power Semiconductor Platform in Gujarat

Nextgen Semiconductors has announced plans to establish India’s first fully integrated Silicon and Silicon Carbide power semiconductor platform in Dholera, Gujarat. The company will invest more than ₹8,800 crore in phases to create a complete wafer-to-power electronics components ecosystem. This initiative aims to strengthen India’s self-reliance in advanced semiconductor technologies for applications in electric vehicles, renewable energy, data centres, and industrial electronics.

The project has already secured land allocation in Dholera and is currently under review by the India Semiconductor Mission. Nextgen expects to begin work on the site by April 2026, with the facility targeted for commissioning within 15 months.

To support this ambitious plan, the company intends to raise between ₹1,000 crore and ₹1,500 crore over the next 12 months through a mix of equity and structured financial instruments. The manufacturing initiative is backed by both global and Indian partners, including IVP, Malaysian semiconductor engineering company Transworld, Myotic, and investors such as Malvika Agarwal, Harsh Agarwal, and Ayush Goel.

In addition, Nextgen has signed a definitive agreement with Hitachi Energy and its associates to bring global process expertise and market access to India.

Sharing his thoughts on the project, Raja Manickam, Director at Nextgen, said, “By combining world-class facility and capacity with a phased execution, we are positioning India not only as a consumer but as a global supplier of Si and SiC devices.”

With this investment, Dholera is set to emerge as a key hub in India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem, aligning with the national mission to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen advanced manufacturing capabilities in strategic sectors.
