Ajay Kumar Rao has been appointed as Group Chief Administrative Officer at Shashwat Hospitals. In his new role, he will oversee operations and administration across Gujarat’s fastest-growing cancer care hospital chain, contributing to its mission of delivering compassionate, world-class healthcare to patients and communities.
Prior to joining Shashwat Group, Ajay served as Associate Vice President at a leading hospital network, managing P&L for five orthopedic hospital units and franchise hospitals with combined annual revenue of 30 to 40 crore. He led a team of over 180 professionals across operations, sales, clinical, and marketing functions, and drove physician engagement programs, referral network strategies, and targeted marketing campaigns to expand patient reach and brand visibility.
Before that, Ajay was Assistant General Manager and Business Head at a prominent diabetes care company. He developed offline go-to-market initiatives, launched partnered clinics, created patient acquisition channels through outreach programs, and brought over 25,000 new customers into the ecosystem. He also built regional partnerships with diabetes clinics across India to improve accessibility.
Earlier in his career, Ajay served as Deputy General Manager at a national laboratory, leading channel sales strategy, process optimization, and business development initiatives. He then held leadership roles at a fertility hospital group as Zonal Sales Manager, overseeing 17 hospitals across East India and Bangladesh, generating over 200 crore in sales. He also held regional leadership positions at a major diagnostic lab, managing large-scale sales operations, market expansion, and franchise development in Mumbai and Chhattisgarh.
Ajay began his career in pharmaceuticals with leading companies, where he gained experience in sales, market development, and business leadership. Over the years, he has transitioned into senior healthcare administration, demonstrating expertise in operational excellence, business growth, and patient engagement strategies. He holds an MBA in Marketing Management from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning.
