Bose Professional has announced the opening of its first dedicated research and development centre outside its global headquarters, selecting Mangaluru as the location. This marks a significant step in the city’s emergence as an innovation hub. The new facility will concentrate on embedded software, apps, and cloud technologies, while also expanding into sales, operations, and finance to create a full-scale support base for the company’s India business.
John Maier, CEO of Bose Professional, shared his views during a recent visit. “We are looking to expand beyond R&D, potentially incorporating roles in sales, operations, and finance, making this office a comprehensive support hub for our business in India,” he said. The centre, which started with just one person, currently employs 25 members and is expected to grow to 75 employees soon.
India is becoming an important market for Bose Professional, with installations in stadiums, airports, and large venues across the country. Maier emphasised that Bose Professional intends to maintain its premium brand identity while responding to the rising demand for affordable, scalable solutions, including all-in-one systems for smaller projects.
“Earlier, we relied on third-party partners before I took over. Now, it is moving everything in-house,” Maier added. He highlighted that the Mangaluru centre will speed up innovation and play a key role in shaping the company’s next-generation products. “We are moving faster and innovating more. This centre will enable us to offer more functionality and features in our next-generation products. We are committed to keeping our customers at the forefront, using cutting-edge tools like AI to enhance their experience.”
The decision to set up the R&D centre in Mangaluru reflects Bose Professional’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in India, positioning the city as a hub for future innovation and growth.
