Indian GCCs Shine in Workplace Culture but Struggle with Innovation, Finds Deloitte Report 2025

The Deloitte India GCC Culture Sensing Report 2025 has revealed that while Indian Global Capability Centres (GCCs) excel in workplace culture, they continue to face challenges in innovation and organisational agility. The study scored Indian GCCs 82 out of 100 on overall culture, with particular strengths in empowerment, inclusion, ethics, and employee growth.

Key Strengths in Workplace Culture
The report highlights that nearly 95 per cent of GCCs excel in creating inclusive and transparent workplaces that value diversity. Strong ethical practices and sustainability commitments also stand out as defining features. Employee development is a priority, with 81 per cent of financial services GCCs offering structured learning pathways to build skills and career growth. While overall performance is positive, concerns such as promotion biases and pay gaps remain.

Innovation and Agility Challenges
On the innovation front, GCCs scored 74 out of 100, underlining a gap between strategic vision and practical implementation. Bureaucratic processes and resistance to change limit the adoption of new technologies and slow down decision-making, making agility a pressing concern.

Sectoral Insights

  • Technology, Media and Communication scored 83 on culture but creativity is often constrained by micromanagement.

  • Life Sciences and Healthcare demonstrated strong inclusion (90) and ethics (88) but offered fewer innovation opportunities.

  • Financial Services showed strength in leadership and pay competitiveness, though work-life balance continues to be a concern.

  • Consumer and Energy sectors performed well on inclusion and ethics but lagged in innovation.

Talent Development and Future Outlook
The Deloitte report also highlights significant investment in reskilling programmes and collaborations with educational institutions. Leadership emphasis on responsible innovation and sustainability is reshaping business strategies, with India positioned as a key market for future growth.

Strategic Path Forward
According to the report, focused investment in talent, skills, and leadership programmes could help bridge the innovation gap. Streamlining processes and promoting adaptability are essential for GCCs to move from being operational hubs to becoming centres of strategic innovation.

Conclusion
The Deloitte India GCC Culture Sensing Report 2025 concludes that Indian GCCs have built a solid foundation in workplace culture, making them attractive for both talent and investors. However, strengthening innovation and organisational agility will be vital for sustaining global competitiveness and driving technology-led growth in the years ahead.
