Tokyo Electron Plans Investment in India’s Semiconductor Sector

Tokyo Electron, a global leader in chip-making technology, has expressed its intention to invest in India’s growing semiconductor industry. The announcement was made by Senior Vice President Fumihiko “Ray” Kaminaga at SEMICON India 2025, where he highlighted India’s skilled talent base and strong government support as key factors for future growth.

Kaminaga stressed that India holds a central role in Tokyo Electron’s long-term strategy. While specific investment details were not revealed, he said, “Yes, it’s a good opportunity, subsidized by the government for the design center and design technologies.”

The company already operates offices and service stations in cities such as Bengaluru and Ahmedabad and partners with local firms including HCL and Tata Consultations. By collaborating with Indian engineers, Tokyo Electron aims to develop new solutions and expand its offerings in the country.

The move signals growing confidence from global technology players in India’s efforts to establish itself as a major hub for semiconductor design and manufacturing.
