WhatsApp Testing New Option To Create And Save Stickers Without Sending Them

WhatsApp is working on a new feature for Android users that will allow them to create and save stickers without having to send them in a chat first. Stickers have become a popular way of making conversations more interactive compared to plain text, and while the platform already offers a wide variety of sticker packs, users can also design their own from any image.

Currently, whenever a sticker is created, it must first be sent in an active chat before it can be saved. However, the new update is expected to change this by giving users the ability to save a sticker directly to their collection. This will make it easier to create, manage, and use stickers at a later time without interrupting ongoing conversations.

As per a feature tracker, the development was spotted in WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.24.23, which has been marked as a compatible update. Once rolled out, users will be able to add stickers to their favourites, place them into an existing pack, or create a brand-new pack if needed.

Screenshots of the update show that after creating a sticker, a new window will appear asking where the user wants to save it. This provides more flexibility for organising sticker collections and makes them more accessible for future use.

The WhatsApp feature is currently under development and is not yet available to all users. However, select participants in the WhatsApp Beta for Android programme on Google Play may be able to try it out ahead of a wider release. The update is likely to roll out gradually to more users in upcoming versions of the app.
