Cuzor is a young Indian company that started in 2019 with the aim of building phone chargers and accessories completely in India. Its latest product, the Cuzor Pulse, is a 70W GaN charger designed to compete with global players while carrying the Made in India tag.
Phone chargers may not appear to be cutting edge, but the industry has seen major changes over time. Charging power has gone from 30W to 100W and even 320W in some cases. High wattage chargers, however, are often bulky and heat up quickly. GaN chargers, which use gallium nitride instead of silicon, address these issues. Most of these chargers are still made with parts sourced from China, but Cuzor hopes to change that with locally designed and built products that meet international standards.
The first impressions of the Pulse are strong. It comes in quality packaging and feels premium in hand despite being made of polycarbonate. The matte black finish and compact size add to its appeal. Inside the box, however, there is no charging cable, which may disappoint buyers.
The charger has two USB C ports with LED lights that indicate charging status. Both ports can deliver 70W fast charging but not at the same time. When two devices are connected, power is split into 45W for laptops and 25W for phones. The Pulse supports Power Delivery 3.0 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 standards. In tests, the Nothing Phone 3a charged from 0 to 100 per cent in about 66 minutes. Phones that rely on other fast charging systems, such as Realme’s Dart charging, do not get superfast speeds.
The Pulse is also aimed at MacBook users, offering 70W charging which Cuzor claims is better suited than the more common 67W. The company has focused heavily on heat management by using charging algorithms and encapsulating components in silicon. In practice, the charger runs cooler than many standard models.
At a selling price of Rs 2500, down from an MRP of Rs 3499, the Cuzor Pulse offers strong value. Its drawbacks include only two Type C ports and the lack of a bundled cable. Competition in the segment is tough, but Cuzor has delivered a product built to global standards that feels safe and reliable.
