Reliance Industries Limited has announced the launch of Reliance Intelligence, a wholly owned unit created to drive artificial intelligence across India. Chairman Mukesh Ambani described it as a step to transform Reliance into a “deep tech enterprise”, complementing its strong presence in telecom, retail and energy. The company aims to make AI as widespread as Jio made the internet, promising to take AI everywhere for every Indian.
Reliance Intelligence has set out four major missions. These include building gigawatt scale, AI ready data centres in Jamnagar, forming alliances with global technology leaders and open source communities, introducing AI powered services in education, healthcare, agriculture and small businesses, and bringing world class AI talent to India. This strategic vision highlights Ambani’s plan to position India at the forefront of the global AI revolution.
To achieve these goals, Reliance is collaborating with Silicon Valley leaders. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, said, “The AI opportunity in India is extraordinary. It will transform every industry and organisation from the largest enterprises to the smallest kirana store.” Google and Reliance will also create a Jamnagar Cloud region to accelerate AI adoption across Reliance’s many businesses.
Reliance is also joining forces with Meta to deliver sovereign, enterprise ready AI platforms designed for Indian businesses and government entities. Mark Zuckerberg underlined the importance of this collaboration, saying, “Together we want to ensure that everyone in India has access to AI — and eventually superintelligence.”
With these partnerships and initiatives, Reliance Intelligence is not only shaping the future of its own operations but also defining a new chapter in India’s technological journey.
