Tezpur University has honoured Reliance Jio for its remarkable role in driving digital transformation in Assam. The recognition was presented during I-Connect, an industry-academia initiative organised by the Department of Business Administration at Tezpur University, designed to promote experiential learning and strengthen partnerships between academia and industry.
During the event, Shri Nitin Bajpai, State CEO of Jio-Assam, delivered a keynote address on the theme “Digital Transformation by Jio”. In his speech, he shared how Jio has been leading the way in transforming connectivity and access for millions across the state. He emphasised that Jio’s digital efforts are enabling faster and more reliable communication, while also opening new opportunities in education, healthcare, business, and digital services, contributing to Assam’s social and economic development.
According to the latest report from the telecom regulator in June 2025, Jio remains the leading digital service provider in Assam with more than 9.7 million mobile subscribers. The company has also expanded its digital infrastructure by connecting over 3.65 lakh households with high-speed internet through JioFiber and JioAirFiber services. This growth has significantly improved access to knowledge, supported local entrepreneurs, and encouraged innovation across different sectors.
The recognition from Tezpur University highlights company’s key role in bridging the digital divide and empowering communities in Assam. By enabling better access to digital solutions and high-quality connectivity, Jio is creating an inclusive ecosystem where students, professionals, and businesses can thrive in today’s fast-evolving digital age.
