GitHub has rolled out a new feature called Agents Panel, described as a “mission control centre for agentic workflows.” The feature is now available in preview across all paid GitHub Copilot plans, including Pro, Pro Plus, Business, and Enterprise.
The Agents Panel allows developers to assign tasks in natural language without leaving their current page. Through this overlay panel, users can delegate background tasks, track real-time progress, and jump directly into pull requests once they are ready.
GitHub Copilot already enables task delegation through GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile, VS Code, or MCP-enabled tools, where it generates draft pull requests in the cloud and continues working in the background. The new enhancement strengthens this process by embedding agentic workflows directly within GitHub’s interface, making development faster and more efficient.
GitHub Copilot has seen rapid adoption worldwide. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella highlighted its strong growth, noting that enterprise customers have increased by 75 per cent quarter over quarter. He also pointed out that 90 per cent of Fortune 100 companies are now using GitHub Copilot. “GitHub usage and repos are seeing explosive growth because of AI,” Nadella said, while also sharing that AI-related projects on company have more than doubled in the past year.
The launch of Agents Panel comes shortly after Thomas Dohmke stepped down as company CEO at the end of the year, following four years in the role. He has moved on to begin a new venture as a founder. GitHub now operates under Microsoft’s CoreAI organisation, continuing to push forward its vision of AI-powered developer productivity.
