Google Photos Introduces New Edit By Asking Feature On Pixel 10

Google has announced new updates for Google Photos that will allow users to edit pictures simply by asking. The feature was revealed during an event on Wednesday and will first arrive on Pixel 10 devices in the United States.

With this update, users can describe the edits they want either through voice or text. The tool is powered by Gemini and understands natural language. This means you can make specific requests such as “remove the cars in the background” or general ones like “restore this old photo.” It is designed to make photo editing more accessible, especially for people who are not familiar with editing tools.

The new edit by asking feature can handle a wide range of tasks including adjusting lighting, removing distractions, changing backgrounds, or even adding creative elements like sunglasses or a party hat to a person in the photo. If you are unsure of what to request, you can simply say “make it better” and Google Photos will automatically enhance the image. The app will also offer suggestions for possible edits and supports follow up requests so you can continue refining the photo.

Alongside this update, Google is also adding support for C2PA Content Credentials in Google Photos. This standard helps to provide more transparency by showing how an image was created and whether artificial intelligence was involved. The Pixel 10 will be the first phone from Google to support this feature. It will be available not only in Google Photos but also in the Camera app itself, and it will apply to any photos taken with the device whether AI is used or not.

Google says the C2PA support will begin with Pixel 10 and later expand to Google Photos on iOS and Android in the coming weeks. The edit by asking feature is launching now.
