OpenAI Introduces ChatGPT Go In India With ₹399 Monthly Plan And UPI Payments

OpenAI has launched a new subscription plan for ChatGPT in India called ChatGPT Go, priced at ₹399 per month including GST. The plan is being introduced first in India before a possible global rollout, giving users more features and flexibility at an affordable rate.

Nick Turley, Vice President and head of the ChatGPT app, announced in a post on X that the new tier will give Indian users ten times more messages, image generations and file uploads compared with the free version, along with double the memory.

Turley also confirmed that users in India can now view subscription prices directly in rupees and pay through UPI. “Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a key ask from users,” he said, adding that the company would closely study feedback from the Indian market before expanding to other regions.

The Go plan offers access to GPT-5, faster image creation, longer memory, and support for tasks, projects and custom GPTs. However, deep research tools will remain limited compared with higher-priced subscriptions.

This new tier is positioned between the free and Plus plans. The free plan includes only restricted use of GPT-5, fewer uploads, slower image creation and minimal memory. The Plus plan, priced at ₹1,999 per month, unlocks advanced reasoning with GPT-5, expanded tools, and access to Sora video generation and Codex agent features.

At the top end, the Pro subscription costs ₹19,900 per month and provides unlimited access to GPT-5, expanded research capabilities, larger memory and early access to experimental tools.

By introducing ChatGPT Go, OpenAI aims to reach users who want more features than the free service offers but do not require the advanced tools of the higher tiers. The plan highlights a growing focus on affordability and accessibility for the Indian market, especially with the convenience of UPI payments.
