Dubai International Airport Unveils World’s First AI-Powered Immigration Corridor

Dubai International Airport has introduced a groundbreaking artificial intelligence-powered corridor that enables travellers to complete immigration procedures in seconds without showing their passports. The system, launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, is the first of its kind in the world and marks a major step in Dubai’s plan for seamless, document-free travel.

The AI corridor allows multiple passengers to be processed at the same time, unlike traditional systems where only one passenger can pass through at once. Up to ten travellers can use the corridor together, making the process faster and more efficient. Passengers simply walk through a special pathway, internally called the “red carpet”, where immigration formalities are completed automatically.

The system uses advanced artificial intelligence to identify and verify travellers in real time, even before they reach the checkpoint. This eliminates the need to present passports or IDs. Despite the speed and simplicity, the system includes strict security protocols. Any irregularities or suspicious documents are automatically flagged and redirected to forgery experts for further checks. This ensures safety while reducing manual work and long queues.

Officials explained that the AI corridor has doubled overall passenger processing capacity, easing congestion during busy travel periods and improving efficiency across the airport.

Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, highlighted that Dubai International Airport is not only a travel hub but also a symbol of the UAE’s progressive identity and hospitality. He said the introduction of the AI corridor strengthens Dubai’s position as a leader in innovation and operational excellence.

He further added that the initiative is part of a long-term roadmap focused on using technology to modernise border control and improve passenger experience. The move towards automated and document-free travel is expected to become a global trend, with Dubai setting the benchmark for this transformation.

Key features of the AI corridor

  • It can process up to ten passengers at once, reducing waiting time.

  • Travellers do not need to present passports or ID documents.

  • Passenger data is matched and verified before reaching the checkpoint.

  • Automated systems flag suspicious cases and send them to forgery experts.

  • It is designed to handle higher passenger volumes during peak times without congestion.

With this launch, Dubai continues to strengthen its reputation as the busiest international airport for the 11th consecutive year while pushing the boundaries of innovation in global air travel.
