Renowned Motorcycle Brand Suffers Full System Ransomware Attack

A well-known motorcycle manufacturer, celebrated for its classic designs and dedicated customer base, is in the midst of a severe cyber attack crisis. Hackers claim to have carried out a complete breach of the company’s IT infrastructure, encrypting all servers, erasing backups, and issuing a high-pressure ransom demand.

The attackers published a “Complete Breach Notice” on a dark web forum, declaring that every server has been locked and all backups permanently deleted. They are demanding payment through a private auction, with bids to be submitted via QTox within 12 hours. To increase the urgency, they have threatened to release “proof-of-access” samples if their demands are not met.

The leaked statement includes technical identifiers such as a session ID, indicating a highly targeted and sophisticated operation. Reports suggest in this attack the hackers exploited a zero-day vulnerability in the company’s VPN gateway, gained elevated privileges using tools like Mimikatz, moved laterally across systems through RDP and SMB protocols, deployed ransomware encrypted with AES-256-CBC, and executed destructive scripts to eliminate backups before locking the data.

With backups destroyed and a tight deadline in place, recovery options are extremely limited, making this attack particularly damaging. The company’s online ordering services and workshop operations have reportedly been affected. While a full public statement has not yet been released, the manufacturer confirmed that its incident response plan is in motion and that it is collaborating with cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement to determine the scope of the breach.

Industry experts note a 45 percent increase in ransomware attacks targeting vehicle manufacturers this year. As modern motorcycles increasingly integrate digital technologies, cybercriminals see these companies as lucrative and vulnerable targets.
