CtrlS has inaugurated its first datacenter in Kolkata, marking the beginning of a ₹2,200 crore project to establish eastern India’s largest datacenter ecosystem. Located in Bengal Silicon Valley, New Town, the facility is the first in the region to achieve a Rated 4 certification.
In its first phase, the CtrlS datacenter offers 16 MW of IT load capacity, with expansion plans targeting over 60 MW across four phases. It is designed to cater to enterprises, government bodies, and major technology companies, including those developing AI-driven solutions.
“This launch is a major milestone in our mission to democratise world-class datacenter infrastructure across India,” said Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters.
The facility is equipped with high-density rack support, advanced cooling systems, nine layers of security, dual power sources, and connectivity to multiple internet service providers. Built to endure natural disasters, it also aims to achieve the highest green building certification standards.
Highlighting the city’s strategic position, Kallol Sen, EVP and Regional CEO (Kolkata) at CtrlS Datacenters, said, “Kolkata’s location is a natural gateway to eastern and northeastern India, as well as neighbouring countries. With a deep talent pool and strong government support, it is the perfect base for high-performance, AI-ready datacenter infrastructure.”
CtrlS datacenter has four fibre entry points and multiple internet exchange connections. Future enhancements, including the Digha subsea cable landing station scheduled to begin operations in 2026, are expected to further strengthen international connectivity.
