Actor Bhumi Pednekar and her sister Samiksha Pednekar have announced the launch of their new sustainable beverage brand, Backbay. Described as a “next generation beverage brand that reimagines hydration for the modern Indian lifestyle,” Backbay’s first product is natural mineral water sourced from the Himalayan foothills, according to a press release.
Samiksha, a lawyer turned entrepreneur, highlighted the inspiration behind the venture. She said water is the “most overlooked daily product” and explained, “With Backbay, we saw a clear gap, to build a hydration brand rooted in integrity, design, and conscious sourcing. This wasn’t just a business opportunity; it was a chance to simplify choices in a cluttered space and bring clarity to something as fundamental as the water we drink.”
Backbay’s debut product is expected to be available in the market by the end of August, offering consumers a consciously sourced and premium hydration choice.
