Breck McGary Appointed as Chief Executive Officer at Burns & McDonnell India

Burns & McDonnell India, the wholly owned subsidiary of the United States-based engineering, construction, and architecture firm Burns & McDonnell, has appointed Breck McGary, PE, as its new chief executive officer. The appointment will take effect on 11 August 2025.

McGary brings more than two decades of industry experience, including nine years in leadership roles at Burns & McDonnell. Most recently, he served as vice president and Bengaluru office manager. Before that, he led the Transmission and Distribution Group in India, overseeing a team of more than 400 engineers and designers who supported 70 global client teams across 10 business lines. Notably, McGary was instrumental in establishing the Bengaluru office, a milestone that laid the foundation for the company’s long-term growth in the region.

“McGary’s passion for excellence, his deep operational insight, and his proven ability to build high-performing teams make him the ideal choice to lead our India operations,” said Mike Brown, vice president for international operations. “His leadership comes at a critical time as we continue to expand our global reach. With Breck at the helm, I am confident Burns & McDonnell India will play an even greater role in our collaboration and strategic growth over the next five years.”

Outgoing CEO Chad Hotovec reflected on the change in leadership, stating, “We are proud to welcome Breck McGary as our new CEO. His thoughtful leadership and forward-looking approach position us well for what is ahead. I am confident he will help us grow and evolve in ways that matter.”

McGary expressed his excitement about the role, saying, “I am honoured to lead Burns & McDonnell India into its next chapter of growth and innovation. My top priorities are to shape an organisation focused on collaboration, excellence, and meaningful impact. As a key part of our global delivery model, we will work closely with teams across geographies to provide consistency, alignment, and exceptional client experience. We are also deeply committed to our people, investing in development, expanding opportunities, and cultivating a culture where everyone feels empowered to lead, create, and grow.”

The leadership transition reflects the company’s continued focus on strengthening local leadership, enhancing regional capabilities, and ensuring seamless project execution for clients across international markets.
