SentinelOne has confirmed its acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity startup Prompt Security, aiming to strengthen AI security capabilities within its Singularity platform. Although the official deal value has not been disclosed, reports suggest the acquisition is worth around 250 million dollars. This marks a major leap in valuation for Prompt Security, which was previously valued at approximately 23 million dollars despite being just two years old.
Prompt Security has focused on various aspects of AI security, such as protecting data privacy, identifying vulnerabilities in AI applications, and offering solutions that help organisations secure their AI adoption. With this acquisition, SentinelOne plans to offer Chief Information Security Officers and IT leaders better control and visibility over AI tools being used across their organisations.
While SentinelOne’s Singularity platform is already described as AI-driven, it has not been specifically tailored for AI security until now. The integration of Prompt Security’s technology is expected to close that gap, enabling businesses to scale their AI use safely.
Prompt Security’s platform identifies and manages the use of unauthorised or hidden AI tools, allowing employees to use solutions like ChatGPT and other AI applications with the same level of security typically found in enterprise systems.
“AI is the most transformative force in the world today, but without security, it becomes a liability,” said Tomer Weingarten, Chief Executive Officer of SentinelOne. “With Prompt Security, we’re making it possible for every company to fully embrace GenAI and agentic AI without compromising safety and security. This is the foundation for secure AI adoption at scale.”
The acquisition brings immediate advantages for SentinelOne users. Prompt Security’s systems can track how employees interact with AI tools, complementing SentinelOne’s existing data loss prevention measures. It can also apply policy-based controls to block potentially harmful prompts before they are submitted, protecting organisations from threats like prompt injection and AI-based exploits.
These solutions are compatible with any AI model and function through the Model Context Protocol via the MCP gateway. Enterprises using self-hosted or on-premise AI deployments can also secure those environments using Prompt’s technology, which will now be available under the broader SentinelOne ecosystem.
