Cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks has announced a major move into the identity security space by agreeing to acquire CyberArk in a deal valued at $25 billion. The acquisition, which includes both cash and stock, is the largest in Palo Alto’s history.
This new step expands Palo Alto’s reach beyond traditional cybersecurity and into identity and access management, a critical area in protecting enterprises against modern cyber threats.
Since Nikesh Arora took charge as CEO and chairman in 2018, Palo Alto has actively pursued growth through acquisitions. The company has already spent over $7 billion on takeovers under his leadership. The purchase of CyberArk is now the most significant of them all.
Other key acquisitions by Palo Alto include Dig Security for around $400 million in October 2023, Talon Cyber Security for about $625 million in November 2023, and Bridgecrew for $156 million in February 2021.
This is one of the biggest cybersecurity deals in 2025, coming close to Google’s $32 billion purchase of Wiz earlier this year.
