VinFast Enters Indian Market, Opens First Showroom in Surat

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has officially stepped into the Indian market with the opening of its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat. The 3,000 square feet dealership, managed by Chandan Car, marks the beginning of the company’s plan to build a strong EV retail network in India.

The new showroom will feature VinFast’s premium electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7. India becomes the first country where VinFast will launch the right-hand drive versions of these models. Pre-bookings for both vehicles started on July 15, 2025, with customers able to reserve their cars at the showroom or online through VinFastAuto.in with a fully refundable deposit of ₹21,000.

VinFast’s vehicles for the Indian market will be locally assembled at the company’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This move highlights VinFast’s long-term commitment to India as a key strategic market and potential future hub for electric vehicle production.

Located in Surat’s Piplod area, the new showroom will act as a complete customer centre, offering an immersive buying experience, easy purchase process, and reliable after-sales support. Speaking on the launch, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said, “The first VinFast showroom in Surat, Gujarat is a symbol of our deep commitment to India. We are excited to bring the VinFast experience closer to Indian consumers. With this dealership in Gujarat, we aim to offer not just electric vehicles, but a complete ownership journey built on quality, trust, and service excellence.”

VinFast has ambitious plans to expand quickly across the country, with 35 dealerships expected to open in over 27 cities by the end of this year. To strengthen its presence, the company has partnered with RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure to provide nationwide charging infrastructure and after-sales services. Additionally, VinFast has joined hands with BatX Energies to support battery recycling and help build a sustainable circular battery ecosystem.

Earlier this month, global EV giant Tesla also launched its Model Y in India, starting at ₹59.89 lakh, and opened its first experience centre in Mumbai. Unlike VinFast, Tesla will import its vehicles from its Shanghai facility in China as completely built units.
