Hindustan Construction Company Ltd (HCC) has announced the appointment of Shri Arjun Dhawan as its new Vice Chairman and Managing Director, effective June 26, 2025, for a five-year term. He has been with the company for 16 years, playing a key role in its strategic growth and operational strength.
During his time at HCC, Shri Dhawan has helped the company overcome major challenges and focus on its core Engineering and Construction (E&C) business. As Group CEO from 2017 to 2025 and later as Executive Vice Chairman, he guided the company through business uncertainties, legacy issues, and complex financial restructuring.
His notable achievements include securing new orders worth Rs 10,000 crore in FY 2024–25, boosting profitability and turnover, and leading asset sales and equity raising of over Rs 6,000 crore to reduce debt and strengthen operations. He also played a crucial role in exiting non-core businesses like the Steiner Group and in reshaping HCC’s debt structure.
Previously, as President and CEO of HCC Infrastructure, he managed infrastructure assets worth over Rs 7,000 crore under PPP/BOT models, generating strong returns and supporting capital mobilization.
On the global front, Shri Dhawan is involved in key platforms such as the World Economic Forum’s Global Commission on Nature Positive Cities, and holds memberships in Indian industry bodies like the CII and CFI.
Before joining HCC, he held senior roles in investment management and banking with Arya Capital Management, Trellus Management, Banc of America Securities, and also worked in New York with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and Credit Suisse First Boston. His expertise covers equity investment, distressed assets, leveraged finance, and mergers and acquisitions.
Shri Arjun Dhawan is a Mathematics and Economics graduate from Middlebury College and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Shri Dhawan appointment signals a new chapter for HCC, focused on innovation, financial strength, and infrastructure growth.
