Global IT services major Cognizant is set to significantly expand its presence in India with the establishment of a sprawling new campus in Visakhapatnam. This ambitious project, backed by a substantial investment and land allocation from the Andhra Pradesh government, is projected to create more than 8,000 employment opportunities in the region.
The proposed Cognizant campus will span an expansive 22 acres within the designated IT Hills area of Kapuluppada. The Andhra Pradesh government has officially allocated the land, paving the way for the development of what is anticipated to be a pivotal IT hub in the state.
Cognizant’s investment in this new facility is pegged at a substantial ₹1,583 crore, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities in India. The influx of over 8,000 new jobs is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy and strengthen Visakhapatnam’s standing as an emerging technology center.
Cognizant plans to commence operations in Visakhapatnam from a temporary facility by early 2026. The first phase of the dedicated campus is targeted for completion by early 2029, indicating a phased approach to the development of this major IT infrastructure.
