ICAI to Host GCC Summit Series, Reinforces India’s Leadership in Global Capability Centres

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the GCC Summit Series under the theme “From Ledger to Global Leadership: Chartered Accountants Shaping Global Capability Centres”. The first summit will be held in New Delhi on June 27–28, 2025, with subsequent editions planned for Ahmedabad (GIFT City), Mumbai, and Hyderabad.

This landmark initiative aims to reinforce India’s position as a global hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and spotlight the transformative role of Indian Chartered Accountants in shaping the global services landscape.<

India’s GCC Landscape: A $64 Billion Ecosystem

India is currently home to over 1,800 GCCs, employing 1.9 million professionals, and contributing to a $64 billion ecosystem. These centres support global operations across industries including IT, finance, healthcare, retail, and manufacturing.

“India has become the back office of the entire world,” said Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI. “Our members are redefining the GCC space. Chartered Accountants are leading digital finance, regulatory integrity, and governance across borders.”

Summit Objectives: Addressing Challenges, Driving Innovation

Despite rapid growth, the GCC ecosystem in India faces challenges such as regulatory clarity, taxation policies, and operational scalability . The summit will foster dialogue between:
  • Industry experts
  • Policymakers
  • Chartered Accountants
  • Global stakeholders

“This summit is designed to serve as a platform for collaboration,” said Prasanna Kumar D, Vice-President, ICAI. “We aim to deliver insights and practical solutions that address current pain points and accelerate India’s evolution as a GCC powerhouse.”

Government and Institutional Support

The GCC Summit Series has received support from several leading bodies, including:
  • Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)
  • Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)
  • Invest India
  • IFSCA (International Financial Services Centres Authority)
  • NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation)
  • SEPC (Services Export Promotion Council)
  • IIM Sambalpur
These partnerships aim to foster policy advocacy, enable ecosystem growth, and support capacity-building initiatives that drive India’s GCC dominance.
