Google Pixel 11 Could Finally Compete With Apple and Samsung in Performance

Google may finally bridge the performance gap with Apple and Samsung through its next-gen Tensor G6 chip, which is expected to power the Pixel 11. According to reports, this chip will be built using TSMC’s advanced 2 nanometre process, marking a major shift in Google’s chip strategy and positioning Pixel phones closer to flagship competitors in terms of speed and efficiency.

Since Google launched its own Tensor chip in the Pixel 6 back in 2021, the performance has lagged behind industry leaders despite the phones being praised for their camera quality, AI features and clean software experience. The earlier versions like Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7, and Tensor G3 and G4 in Pixel 8 and 9, were all made using Samsung’s 5nm and 4nm processes. Meanwhile, rivals like Qualcomm had already moved to faster 4nm chips like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The upcoming Tensor G5, expected to debut with the Pixel 10, will shift to TSMC’s 3nm process. However, the real upgrade is set to arrive with the Pixel 11’s Tensor G6, which is reportedly being built on TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm process. This move could help Google match or even outperform Qualcomm and Samsung in chip efficiency, thermal performance and raw processing power.

Reports suggest that Google may be among the first smartphone makers to adopt this 2nm chip technology, giving it a chance to lead the market in performance by 2026. While Apple and Samsung are also working on their own next-gen chips, the Tensor G6 might help Pixel phones finally compete at the top tier.

If successful, this transition could bring a major boost for Pixel fans who have long appreciated Google’s software and camera strengths but hoped for better hardware performance. The Tensor G6 could be the key to delivering a truly well-rounded flagship phone.
