In a strategic move to establish itself as a global leader in electronics manufacturing, the Gujarat government has officially launched the Gujarat Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy-2025 (GECMS-2025). This ambitious policy aims to attract investments exceeding ₹35,000 crore and create a substantial number of high-skilled job opportunities within the state.
The primary objective of GECMS-2025 is to transform Gujarat into a prominent global hub for electronics component manufacturing. The policy is designed to provide robust support for new projects and expansion plans within the sector.
A key highlight of the new policy is its provision for a 100% top-up support to projects that have already secured approval under the Central Government’s existing Electronics Components and Semiconductors (ECMS) scheme. This dual-layered incentive structure is expected to significantly enhance the attractiveness of Gujarat as an investment destination for electronics manufacturers.
The GECMS-2025 specifically encourages investments in crucial and high-growth sectors, including the manufacturing of multi-layer and High-Density Interconnect (HDI) printed circuit boards (PCBs), as well as lithium-ion battery cells. These components are vital for a wide range of electronic devices and electric vehicles, indicating Gujarat’s foresight in targeting future-oriented industries.
Furthermore, projects deemed eligible under the GECMS-2025 will benefit from turnover-linked incentives for a period of six years, providing sustained financial support as they scale their operations. This comprehensive policy package underscores Gujarat’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and competitive electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
