Napier AI appoints Noel King as Chief Technology Officer

Industry veteran Noel King has been named chief technology officer (CTO) of London-based financial crime compliance RegTech Napier AI.

The hiring coincides with the company’s efforts to combat money laundering by growing its AI-enabled financial crime compliance software.

King, who most recently held the position of CTO at Implement Technologies and Shipyard Technology Ventures, brings decades of expertise in IT strategy, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity to the position.

In the past, he has used cloud-native technologies for multinational companies like Goldman Sachs and Mastercard.

In order to help renowned financial institutions fight financial criminals and prevent losses, King will provide financial crime compliance software tools for client screening, transaction monitoring, and transaction screening.

“Our mission is to be the global leader in financial crime compliance software, and Noel is the perfect person to make that happen,” said Greg Watson, CEO of Napier AI.

“His expertise in building and scaling technology companies will be invaluable as we continue on our exciting journey of helping financial institutions across the globe root out financial crime.

“Technology has a vital part to play in that and Noel’s leadership will help us double down on our tech vision and bring AI to the forefront of anti-money laundering.”

King added: “Technology and software are our best defence against financial crime, and Napier AI is best positioned to solve that problem globally. We understand the challenges facing financial institutions.

“They’re tasked with screening large networks of transactions, people and businesses for malicious financial criminals in a landscape that’s growing increasingly sophisticated and complex.

“We want to build AI-powered tech solutions that wow customers, addressing their future plans and biggest pain points.”

King will also serve as the head of Napier AI’s Belfast Centre of Excellence, a brand-new, top-performing technological facility in Northern Ireland devoted to the study and advancement of the business’s anti-money laundering technology.

King established Coolest Projects to support young people’s technological innovation.
