Speaking at the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that technology is a significant driver of better health outcomes. In a video address, Modi highlighted India’s accomplishments in this area and stated, “We have a digital platform to track vaccination of pregnant women and children. Millions of people have a unique digital health identity. It is helping us integrate benefits, insurance, records and information.” He said with telemedicine, nobody is too far from a doctor. “Our free telemedicine service has enabled over 340 million consultations,” Modi said.
The prime minister remembered his speech at the 2023 World Health Assembly, when he discussed “One Earth, One Health” and made the point that cooperation, inclusivity, and an integrated vision are essential to a healthy future.
He emphasized Ayushman Bharat, the largest health insurance program in the world, which covers 580 million people and offers free care, as evidence that inclusion is at the heart of India’s health reforms.
He pointed out that early screening and identification of conditions like cancer, diabetes, and hypertension are made easier by India’s vast network of thousands of health and wellness centers.
