A Bridge to Beauty: Soon Glide from Mahabaleshwar to Konkan with Ease

A breathtaking transformation in Maharashtra’s travel landscape is on the horizon. A stunning new cable-stayed bridge is being built to connect Tapola in Satara with Gadhavali Ahir in Ratnagiri, offering a direct and scenic link between the lush hills of Mahabaleshwar and the serene shores of the Konkan coast.

This engineering marvel will cut down the distance between Mahabaleshwar and Ratnagiri by almost 50 kilometres. Say goodbye to the winding detour through Poladpur and Ambenali Ghat. With this new route via Raghuveer Ghat in Khed taluka, travellers can soon cruise through the heart of the majestic Koyna valley, soaking in nature’s grandeur.

Modelled after the iconic Bandra Worli Sea Link, this structure is set to become Western Maharashtra’s first cable-stayed bridge. It will stretch 540 meters in length and 14 meters in width, crowned by a striking 43-meter-high central gallery that will offer jaw-dropping views of the Koyna backwaters and the golden hues of sunrise and sunset over the Sahyadris. A photographer’s dream and a traveller’s delight, this bridge is destined to become a landmark in its own right.

But that’s not all. To further ease movement in the region, another bridge is also under construction on the Bamnoli to Aapti road. This will shorten the Tapola to Satara stretch by an additional 10 to 15 kilometres, making road trips more pleasant and less time-consuming for both locals and visitors.

This dual-bridge development promises not just better roads but a revitalised rhythm for the region’s tourism and economy. With shorter routes, safer paths, and scenic wonders at every turn, Maharashtra’s hills and coastlines are about to feel closer than ever.
