Monica Ohara to lead global marketing strategy and brand growth at Fivetran
Fivetran, the global leader in data movement, today announced the appointment of Monica Ohara as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Bringing more than 20 years of experience in marketing, growth, and leadership roles at high-growth technology companies, Ohara will report to COO Taylor Brown and serve as a member of the Fivetran executive team, overseeing brand, customer, partner, field and product marketing, public relations, analyst relations, and events.
Ohara brings extensive experience in driving growth at every stage, having previously served in marketing leadership roles at Shopify, WordPress.com, and HackerRank. She also co-founded the growth marketing startup DataScore, which was acquired by Lyft, where she later led rider and driver acquisition through the company’s IPO. Ohara’s track record in customer acquisition, brand leadership, and scaling high-growth companies positions her to help drive Fivetran’s next phase of growth.
“Monica brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial drive, deep marketing expertise, and a proven ability to scale some of the world’s most respected technology brands,” said Taylor Brown, COO of Fivetran. “Her experience leading growth at both early-stage startups and global enterprises will be critical as Fivetran continues to expand our market leadership. We are confident Monica will help propel Fivetran’s next chapter of innovation and growth.”
Her hiring follows a series of executive team additions at Fivetran, including the appointments of Suresh Seshadri as Chief Financial Officer, Anand Mehta as Chief People Officer, and Simon Quinton as General Manager for EMEA. It also comes on the heels of Fivetran’s acquisition of Census, which adds Reverse ETL capabilities to its platform and strengthens its position as the leading provider of end-to-end data movement. Together, these moves reflect Fivetran’s focus on scaling for its next stage of growth.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been drawn to companies that make complex technology accessible and enable transformative outcomes for their customers,” said Monica Ohara, Chief Marketing Officer of Fivetran. “Fivetran’s ability to automate data movement and enable real-time decision-making is fundamentally changing how businesses operate. I’m excited to help amplify Fivetran’s impact globally and build deeper connections with the customers and partners who rely on us every day.”
Before joining Fivetran, Ohara served as Vice President of Growth Marketing at Shopify, Chief Marketing Officer of WordPress.com, and Chief Marketing Officer at HackerRank. She also led growth strategy at SpeedDate.com ahead of its acquisition by Match.com/IAC. Ohara holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from UCLA and studied Principles of Engineering Design at Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth.
