The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which Meta has revealed would be available in India on Monday of next week, May 19, 2025. The smart glasses’ introduction in India had previously been verified by the business, but no more information about their availability or cost had been supplied.
Meta has now formally announced that the smart glasses will be priced at ₹29,900 in India and will be available there as early as May 19. The Ray-Ban website is already accepting pre-orders for the smart glasses, and starting on May 19, the collection will be offered on the internet and at top optical and sunglasses retailers nationwide.
The smart glasses, which replaced the original Ray-Ban Stories, were introduced all over the world in September 2023. They have more sophisticated AI capabilities, better sound quality, wider app support, and better design. “Hey Meta” is all it takes to activate features on Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which also come with Meta AI built in. Without using their phones, they can exchange messages, snap pictures, film movies, play music, and translate languages in real time.
The live translation tool, which is now being implemented worldwide, is one of the most notable features. With real-time speech translations provided through the glasses and a transcript shown on the linked phone, it supports English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Remarkably, provided the necessary language packs are downloaded, this capability may also function offline, which is a huge benefit for regular travelers.
However, the product has also gotten into trouble since Meta recently sent out an email to consumers informing them that all voice conversations would now be stored by default and that there will no longer be a way to turn off this data gathering.
In the past, customers may choose not to have their speech recordings saved when utilizing the smart glasses’ AI capabilities. According to the revised policy, such option is no longer accessible. Although users may still manually remove individual recordings through the device’s settings, speech recordings will be automatically kept anytime the “Hey Meta” voice assistant is in use.
