ACCA survey reveals AI, tech changes cause taxing times for accountants

A worldwide accounting group conducted a poll and found that Indian accountants are overwhelmed by the speed at which technology is changing and the influence of artificial intelligence on their work. They are struggling to keep up with the quickly changing landscape.

More than half of Indian accountants who participated in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants’ (ACCA) third annual Global Talent Trends Survey 2025 expressed concern that they would not be able to acquire the necessary future skills because of the rapidly evolving nature of technology.

“This concern is inversely proportional to seniority, where mid and junior-level professionals are more worried than senior leadership and board-level respondents,” the survey found.

Compared to the global average of 50%, 54% of Indian respondents are worried about not acquiring the necessary future skills. According to the poll, 43% of Indians ranked AI as their most valuable talent, compared to 36% globally, since more than half felt overtaken by AI and evolving technology.

Just 37% of those surveyed claimed that their company offered chances to acquire AI-related skills.
