StepChange Welcomes Modaser Choudhary as New CFO to Champion Financial Resilience and Strategic Growth

Wishing Mr. Modaser Choudhary greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!

In a fresh chapter for its leadership journey, StepChange has proudly announced the arrival of Modaser Choudhary as its new Chief Financial Officer, who stepped into the role this April. His appointment arrives at a moment of great momentum as the charity forges ahead with its bold 2025 to 2030 strategic vision.

Choudhary enters the organisation with over two decades of diverse and seasoned experience that spans across financial services, consulting, education, and the not-for-profit world. Prior to joining StepChange, he served in pivotal interim CFO roles at both Everyturn, a prominent national mental health organisation, and Advance Northumberland, a key public sector enterprise.

Reflecting on this important addition to the leadership team, Chief Executive Vikki Brownridge shared her optimism for the road ahead. “We’re delighted to welcome Modaser to StepChange at a pivotal time following the launch of our new 2025 to 2030 strategy. His wealth of experience will be vital in helping us to deliver our strategic objectives and significant change for the charity.”

For Choudhary, this role represents more than just a professional milestone—it’s a purposeful alignment. “I’m really proud to join StepChange at such an exciting time for the charity as it embarks upon its new five-year strategic period. I’m looking forward to joining a talented team and using my expertise to help drive forward the charity’s key outcome of being a financially sustainable not-for-profit organisation,” he remarked.

His leadership is expected to play a key role in fortifying the charity’s financial framework while supporting its mission to offer hope and practical help to those struggling with debt and financial insecurity.

As StepChange steps forward into a future of transformation, Choudhary’s financial acumen and values-led approach are seen as cornerstones to guiding the organisation toward a stronger, more impactful presence in the communities it serves.
