Ralph Lauren Appoints Naveen Seshadri as Global Chief Digital Officer

Wishing Mr. Naveen Seshadri greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!

Ralph Lauren has appointed Naveen Seshadri as its new Global Chief Digital Officer, as the luxury brand continues its journey of transformation fueled by advancements in digital technology. This strategic move comes at a pivotal moment as the company nears the end of a three-year growth initiative, with a particular focus on enhancing its digital infrastructure.

During an earnings call in February, CFO Justin Picicci outlined the company’s evolving vision, stating, “This new buying framework is just one element of our upcoming next-generation transformation strategy, which will bring together our new global ERP system with integrated business planning tools and more productive, agile logistics to align with our increasingly global [direct-to-consumer]-oriented business going forward.” The brand’s commitment to modernization is evident, especially as it embraces digital transformation to optimize operations and improve customer experience.

The shift toward a more digital-first approach began in 2022 under the leadership of former Chief Digital and Technology Officer Janet Sherlock, who retired in September. Christopher Conrad succeeded Sherlock but left the role in January to join clothing retailer Aritzia as their Chief Technology and Information Officer. Now, Seshadri steps into the spotlight, bringing years of valuable experience from his previous executive roles at major companies like Walt Disney Company, Foot Locker, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Lonely Planet.

Seshadri’s experience at BJ’s Wholesale Club, where he led the digital customer experience strategy and omnichannel initiatives as VP of digital commerce, has set the stage for his new role. According to a 2018 press release, Rafeh Masood, then SVP and Chief Digital Officer at BJ’s, recognized Seshadri’s “extensive experience in driving omnichannel transformations and his leadership will help as we work to deliver more to our members.”

Ralph Lauren’s commitment to digital maturity is emphasized by industry analysts, including Sky Canaves, who sees the brand as a “standout” in the luxury sector. “Digital is critically important on the backend of the business, where the company can optimize operations and manage customer interactions with physical, digital and social properties on the path to purchase,” Canaves remarked.

With Seshadri at the helm, Ralph Lauren is set to accelerate its digital journey, enhancing customer experiences while optimizing internal operations.
