Madurai district police have cracked three cybercrime cases by arresting four persons

Madurai district police have arrested four people, including a lady, from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in connection with three cybercrime cases.

The accused were named in a statement as Mamta Rani, 37, D. Ajaib Singh, 57, and her husband, P. Pardeep, 27 from Delhi, as well as V. Ishu Sharma, 27, of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, Ishu Sharma was taken into custody when they were investigating a 2021 case.

Under the guise of obtaining customs clearance for costly and imported presents, he had defrauded the complainant of ₹15.62 lakh.

In 2021, Ajaib Singh defrauded another complainant of ₹51.59 lakh by pretending to be a well-known automaker.

On the pretense of a job overseas, the pair scammed a Silaiman resident out of ₹15 lakh in 2024.

A few cell phones, SIM cards, ATM cards, and bank passbooks have been found by the police. According to the authorities, these accused had accepted commissions from cybercriminals by giving their bank accounts to them in order to commit online scams.

B.K. Arvind, the Madurai Superintendent of Police, stated that attempts were underway to retrieve the misplaced funds.
