Orange Group Appoints Yasser Shaker to Lead Its Middle East and Africa Vision

Wishing Mr. Yasser Shaker greater responsibilities and exciting challenges in this impressive new chapter!

In a bold stride towards future expansion, Orange Group has appointed Yasser Shaker as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer for its Middle East and Africa operations, with his leadership beginning on July 1, 2025. This move reflects Orange’s focused commitment to deepening its roots across one of its most dynamic and opportunity-rich territories.

Currently leading Orange Egypt, Shaker has carved a powerful legacy over his 25-year journey in the telecom world. His tenure in Egypt has been marked by digital innovation, operational finesse and a relentless push for market excellence. His ability to merge tech-forward strategy with business sensibility now positions him to guide Orange MEA through its next chapter of transformation.

The Middle East and Africa arm of Orange spans 18 nations and contributes nearly 45 percent to the Group’s overall revenue. From mobile money to digital identity platforms and cloud solutions, the region is witnessing explosive growth in digital demand. Shaker’s elevation comes as Orange sets its sights firmly on nurturing this momentum.

In a message shared on a social platform, Orange’s Global CEO Christel Heydemann stated, “Yasser’s visionary leadership in Egypt has set benchmarks in customer experience and digital adoption. We are confident he will bring the same momentum to our broader MEA ambitions.”

Online conversations have also celebrated Shaker’s success in significantly expanding Orange Egypt’s network coverage, customer base and revenues, despite facing regulatory and economic complexities. His leadership has often been cited as a blueprint for growth and resilience in emerging markets.

Taking the reins from the seasoned Alioune Ndiaye, who is stepping into retirement after a transformative decade at the helm, Shaker inherits a legacy of deep market reach, financial inclusion and sustainability-led innovation. Ndiaye’s contributions have left behind a strong foundation of purpose-driven progress.

As he steps into this vital role, Shaker is expected to prioritise the rollout of next-gen 5G infrastructure, expand fintech offerings and create new collaborations in key markets like Morocco, Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire. His journey ahead is likely to shape the very future of digital connectivity across the region.
