Infosys Strengthens Global Capability Centre Focus with Deval Shah at the Helm of New Practice

In an exciting development, Infosys has ramped up its commitment to the growing Global Capability Centre (GCC) market by unveiling a dedicated GCC practice, with Deval Shah appointed to lead the initiative. Shah, who previously served as Managing Director and Country Head for Danske IT and Support Services India, will now operate as Vice President and Delivery Head at Infosys, guiding the company’s efforts to expand its footprint in this rapidly evolving sector.

This strategic move is in line with Infosys’ broader vision to grow its GCC capabilities, positioning it as a central pillar for future growth under the company’s Project Altius. This internal transformation project aims to enhance the company’s ability to cater to the accelerating demand for multi-year transformation deals, such as BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) models, assisted captives, and joint ventures. The evolving GCC space presents an exciting opportunity for Infosys to support clients with end-to-end solutions, including compliance, legal, and tax-related services.

Infosys’ ongoing partnership with Danske Bank plays a crucial role in shaping this direction. The collaboration saw Infosys secure a $454 million contract, which involved absorbing nearly 1,400 employees from Danske Bank’s Indian IT centre. The partnership focuses on modernizing Danske Bank’s technological infrastructure, optimizing talent resources, and enhancing operational efficiency, which further cements Infosys’ expertise in managing and scaling IT capabilities in complex environments.

“The GCC market is expanding rapidly, offering opportunities for both multi-year transformation deals such as BOT (build, operate and transfer), assisted captives, and joint ventures, as well as providing embedded support for scaling up existing centres,” a company internal note states, highlighting the importance of this new initiative. With a growing number of deals requiring specialized attention, Infosys is investing heavily in strengthening its GCC practice to meet client demands across various sectors.

When asked about the enhanced focus on GCCs, Infosys CEO Salil Parekh shared insights on the company’s ongoing commitment: “We’re working very closely with our GCC clients to help them establish or scale different operational models. Recently, we announced a major win in this area with a services business and another with an airline, which reinforces our confidence.”

The expansion into the GCC sector is not only a significant move for Infosys, but it also reflects the changing dynamics of the IT industry, where GCCs are viewed as strategic partners, rather than competitors. Cognizant, a rival firm, has similarly made strides in this direction, appointing Sailaja Josyula as its Global Head of GCC services.

With Deval Shah now steering Infosys’ GCC practice, the company is set to expand its leadership in the sector, helping global enterprises scale operations and digital solutions with precision and efficiency.
