Samsung’s latest software update, One UI 7, which started rolling out on April 7, has now been globally paused due to a critical bug that’s troubling users of the Galaxy S24 lineup. The update, intended to enhance device performance and bring new features, has instead sparked a wave of frustration and concern across multiple regions.
Multiple users, especially those from Korea, reported troubling symptoms post-update. Complaints range from devices refusing to unlock properly to drastic battery drain, leaving even flagship smartphones like the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 in a problematic state.
The situation came to light after users flooded Samsung’s official Korean community forums with concerns. According to reports from a local source, this mysterious bug has caused some Galaxy S24 phones to become practically unusable after updating. This prompted Samsung to suspend the rollout for all devices temporarily while the issue is being investigated.
A prominent tipster, Ice Universe, echoed the concern on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that a “serious” bug was indeed detected in Korean Galaxy S24 models following the One UI 7 upgrade. He suggested that this glitch was significant enough for Samsung to rethink its entire release timeline.
Users worldwide who haven’t yet received the update may now find themselves waiting a bit longer as Samsung works on a resolution. For those who already installed it and are facing issues, a fix might be on the way, although no official timeline has been provided yet.
The halt underscores the importance of robust pre-release testing, especially for massive updates rolled out across multiple device generations. As users await further word from Samsung, the tech community watches closely for a new, more stable build to replace the faulty one.
